4 Craft Ideas to Celebrate May Day

Tatted Clover Bookmark
Observed on May 1st, May Day is a celebration observed in honor of springtime and fertility (more so in Europe), which typically includes activities like dancing the maypole dance, festivals and feasts, and crowning of the May Day Queen.

Blessings Block
Although this holiday is not as widely practiced in the USA, it is still a wonderful time of year when most Americans are planting gardens, Spring cleaning, preparing for Summer and playing all sorts of outdoor sports.

Animal Plates
Traditionally on May Day, festivities, processionals, town and neighborhood feasts and bonfires abound.  Another fun aspect of May Day includes celebrating new life and new birth, babies, baby animals, and budding plants and flowers.

Rose Applique

In Honor of Earth Day!

Cupcake Flowers
Are you ready for Earth Day?!  In most places (inside the U.S. at least) Earth Day is celebrated on April 22nd, so get ready to get your earth groove on.  Why not use one of our easy, earth-friendly craft ideas to help decorate or celebrate?

T-shirt Yarn Tutorial
We've got some great ideas for how to reuse, re-purpose and recycle some of that stuff hiding in your closet, cupboards and drawers.  Our T-shirt Yarn Tutorial is fun and simple and can be used for so many crochet or knitting projects.

Photo Flower Pot
Do you have some extra flower pots that need a pick me up?  Grab your Mod Podge, photo and a little paint and you are ready to create a unique and sweet Photo Flower Pot for you or someone special.

Recycled Sweater Yarn
Wander to your closet (or the nearest thrift store) and save some yarn - recycle your unloved or worn out sweaters!  (It's kind of like saving the whales...maybe you could knit a whale sweater from all that recycled yarn?)

Coffee Filter Angel
It's always fun and educational to involve kids in Earth Day.  Teach them young how to care for the earth and when they grow up...they will be earth lovers too!  There are so many things you can create from coffee filters.  (Visit The Idea Box if you don't believe me.)

Have a very happy Earth Day!  Please visit our Upcycle Crafts page and scroll down for more ideas.  We love feed back and photos, so be sure to send us some or connect with us on Facebook!
