Spring Is Close!

The weather is changing, color trends are being released, the closets need to be de-cluttered and the garden soil is begging to be worked!  I suspect Spring is closer than we think.  With Spring comes new life, babies of all shapes and sizes, Easter, and...new projects!

Crochet Hexagon Afghan
Esther over at Crafts by Starlight has done it again.  She's reminded us why we love crochet and geometry!  Give this unique afghan the old college try, and revisit math memories while you're at it.

Easter Bunny Cross Stitch
If you are itching for all things Easter and love cross stitch as much as we do, this funny bunny is definitely the way to start getting geared up for an egg-ceptional Easter!

Tool Box
The snow is gone (or almost) and the garden calls!  Adapt this tool box to your garden supplies and get your hands dirty.  (Or not.  Do make the tool box!)

Knit Baby Sweater
Expecting a new stork delivery soon?  Or maybe news of a friend's bundle of joy has spread...if your knitting needles and yarn stash are calling, take this free pattern and create a baby sweater all your own!

Enjoy! Remember, we love feedback and photos!

Create Some Mardi Gras Love!

Celebrate "Fat" Tuesday with bright colors, beads, masks and a little chaos too!  It's not too late to create some Mardi Gras love with one of these fun craft ideas.  Whether you will be spending the night with revelers or a quiet evening at home crocheting, you can bring a little New Orleans home with you!

Purple Water Princess Flower
This colorful crocheted flower can be created quickly and easily to adorn a hat, headband, lapel, scarf, backpack or even dress up clothes for your little flower princess.  (I think I will make up a few to give as "Mardi Gras" gifts instead of the traditional beads.)

Ribbon Bracelet
Made up in several different colors, this ribbon bracelet becomes the perfect accent for your Mardi Gras attire or any outfit!  Another great gift idea that is simple and inexpensive to create.

Angry Birds King Pig
Last but never least, our adorable little friend, the Angry Birds King Pig can double as a traditional "king" themed Mardi Gras gift for your kids or the big kids in your life.  Have fun with the crafts this week and Fat Tuesday!

Enjoy! We love feedback and photos!

A Few More Valentine's Ideas!

Need a few more Valentine gifts for teachers, friends, co-workers, or that special someone?  Below are just a few of the fun and frilly Valentine crafts that wait for you at Craftown!  Unleash your creativity and make something home-made, whimsical and thoughtful for your next Valentine, or any occasion gift!

Tatted Heart
I don't know much about tatting myself, but our awesome needle craft creator, Esther over at Crafts by Starlight, is an expert in tatting.  She creates most all of our tatting patterns (her original work of course) and she is an amazing needlework pro!  Thanks Esther!

Sweetheart Headband
Our very own, Miss Jenny, is our other "crafting star!"  She creates the wonderful wood crafts and truly inspiring vinyl crafts that we feature.  Her other hidden talent...Knitting extraordinaire!  She created this sweet headband that you can make for your sweethearts!

Baby Sweetheart Beanie
Did I mention she crochets too?  Yes!  That woman does it all...shout out to Miss J to show our support and adoration for all her creations!  This super sweet baby beanie is perfect for Valentine's Day for your littlest sweet heart.  Create one in pastels for Easter too.  (It'll be here before we know it!)

Enjoy!  We love feedback and photos!

Nifty Needlework Gifts for Valentine's Day!

If you are searching for something unique and creative to gift your valentines this year, and you love to crochet or knit, might I suggest one of our free patterns?  We have tons of amazing free crochet and knit patterns over at Craftown that you will love.  Most of them are very easy with a few intermediate & advanced patterns sprinkled in to keep your interest!

Child Hoodie with Scarf
This cozy little hoodie is perfect for bundling up in to romp around the house this winter and into the spring.  Although the pattern calls for no buttons, I think fasteners or toggles could easily be added for a little bit of flair, especially if they are heart-shaped!

Tied Headband
This knitting pattern is especially clever and fun to create.  I love hair accessories and this one doubles as a cute headband and ear-warmer.  Also, knitting it up in pinks, reds, and oranges will keep you trending into Spring!  Knits are in!

Crochet Checker Board
Checkers and Chess are two favorite games around our house.  You will have fun creating a crocheted board!  Now why didn't I think of that?  I think it's also so much fun that our designer Esther over at Crafts by Starlight thought to make it the perfect size for M&M candies as checker pieces!  Clever girl!

Enjoy!  Remember, we love feedback and photos!
